Mrs. Vallarta is an active artist living on the Southern border of Texas. Mrs. Vallarta went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to obtain her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree. There she studied ceramics, mosaics, watercolor, sculpture, painting, textiles, art history, and figure drawing. After, she went to the Chicago Mosaic School where she studied and worked alongside master international mosaicists. She has over fifteen years experience in teaching art to both children and adults. Currently, Mrs. Vallarta is back in her hometown and focusing on being part of the process to beautify her city (installing large scale architectural mosaics in public spaces).

Mrs. V has a passion for Japanese culture, anime, and Studio Ghibli. Mrs. V currently teaches full time on Outschool. She is available from Wednesday through Sunday from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Standard Time.

What Mrs. V offers

Mrs. V offers an array of art courses. By far, the most popular are the Studio Ghibli/anime series courses. These range from one hour lecture courses for high schoolers, to small art workshops for elementary students, to five-week sketching classes for middle schoolers and more. At the moment, she offers over a dozen different classes in the Studio Ghibli series and another dozen different classes in general anime. Mrs. V offers lecture classes on prominent artists and other hands on art courses.

In addition, there are over a dozen one-time classes meant to allow learners to pursue niche interests, explore interesting topics in anime, Japanese culture, art history and art practices.

Course Policies

  • Refunds follow the ‘Limited’ model. Parents may withdraw up to a week before class starts with a full refund. Within this time frame, parents may transfer to a new section up to 48 hours before start time, but are no longer entitled to a refund. In the event a learner misses a class, recordings are privately made available in each classroom.

  • Late/Missed Class Policy: All courses will begin on time as long as one learner is in the classroom. In the event that no students are in the classroom at the assigned class time, the teacher will leave a message on the discussion board and exit after ten minutes of waiting.

  • All class times are approximate. Class length varies based on student ability and number of enrolled learners. Classes are designed so that they will not run longer than the time allotted.

“My 7-year-old loved this class! She loves art, and this class helped her to learn to use colored pencils to draw some of her favorite characters from Studio Ghibli films”
